New
Leadership 4 Bruce Peru
We
have opened a second centre in Trujillo, and moved the childrens program
into it.
We will now use our original campus for other porojcts and programs. The
mission of our new centre is to get child laborers and street kids off
the street and into school.
More information about the center can
be found here

Bart's record at Bruce
Peru: Bart
came to us directly from a volunteer assignment in Brazil - what
we did not know until later was that even while he was with us he
maintained a position with the other institution, and actively worked
to recruit volunteers for them. His
first job with Bruce Peru was to supervise construction work at
the Delicias shelter, then he was sent as assistant to work with
Emma in Cajamarca - preparing him to help open our new centre in
Huaraz. Bart worked well
in Cakamarca, but there came under Emma's influence - would play
a future roll in her take over of the Cajamarca centre. When we
were ready to open our centre in Huaraz we sent Bart ahead to line
up potential properties. And when Ana Tere and Bruce went up to
rent one of them Bart participated fully. Then, applying what he
had learned from his experience in the other Bruce Peru centres
he proceeded to promote and direct the Huaraz children's centre
in an exemplary fashion, adding his own natural

skills to develop a successfully functioning children's centre in
a very short time. For this we are truly grateful, and are even prepared
to overlook some of his personal shortcomings. Thank you Bart for
helping to start such a good work for the children of Huaraz. |

Good-bye
Cosmo and Eelke, hello Mai & Oliver
Cosmo
from Japan, our dynamic 18 year old volunteer director who, whth the steady
hand of Eelke in support, oversaw the opening of our new Trujillo Centre
- "Trujillo 2", completed her term with us at the same time
as our solid and guiding Trujillo mother figure, the Dutch engineer, Eelk.
Even as we were bemoan their departure, their shoes were being brilliantly
filled by an equally dynamic and extremely creative new leader, the Canadian
Pharmicist, Mai. Under Mai's direction 'Trujillo 2' became precisely the
hotbed of stimullation and education for poor children that we hoped for
when we took the gamble of investing in a second centre in our home city.
And now evyn Mai has completed her term and turned over the reins to Joaquin,
professional from Spain with 10 years in charity work for children.
And now to our most successful centre, Huaraz, where the consumate founder/promoter
Bart, has turned over direction to the extremely competent Oliver

Recent
Angles
Many recent volunteers
have arrived haveily
laden with generous gifts for the children. The reason we have only
a few pictures here is due to our digital camera having been broken
for 6 weeks and our photographer away in Lima for medical treatement
for a month (our appologies to you who are not pictured). Four computers,
laptops from Daniela, and Debra and two computers loaned by Ana Tere's
family in Lima. A massive load of medicines for children arrived with
Mai; a generous gift from Dr. Heather; and more gifts arrived than
we now remember..

Transitions
Since
our last update we have received 27 new international and 7 new
Peruvian volunteers. Due to the disruption in our volunteer application/email
server caused by a hacker, our intake of international volunteers
is due to fall in September: which will cause a delay in our plan
to open a new Childrens Centre this year .
