Good News from Peru, hope for homeless children
December 2002
Update:
Shelter for pregnant
adolescent rape victims
We
now have the plans from our volunteer architect, Carolina Garcia Galvez,
and we have begun construction of the adobe walls. We still urgently need
help in order to purchase the materials for electricity, windows, doors,
plumbing, roofs etc..
Until the kind hearted mayor of Delicias gave us this
900 square meter ocean front property, we were at a loss as to how to
help these poor girls. Now our volunteer architect is desigining a Spanish
mission style building, adobe walls and sheltered rooms surrounding a
central garder; they will house residential, medical, dining, psycholiogical
,educational and workshop facilities. The isolated beach and softly breaking
waves will provide therapy. The adobe bricks we will make ourselves, but
for doors, windows, electricity and plumbing we will have to pray for
donors.

We
have completed our little dental clinic (free service to
street kids)
..We
have also built a small dental clinic on the premises (like the medical
facility which opened last month), this one for the public spirited Dr.
Lucho Vasquez Leiva (dentist), who comes three times a week to Bruce Peru;
seeing to the dental needs of poor and abandoned children.

Feast
of Peruvian cuisine.
In
support or our 15 abandoned mothers clubs we held "fiesta de platas
tipicas".
Each club brought a specialty of Peruvian cooking and the people of Trujillo
were treated to some really great cuisine. |

Young
offenders come to work at Bruce Peru and we send out arobic instructors.
As
part of our mission to help needy children we cooperate with a number of
other institutions. This
month we employed several inmates from the juvenile home, graduates of our
course in electricity there, to install our computer grounding system. We
also provided fitness trainers to the largest girls Shelterin the area. |

Chrismas
parties galore
We
held parties for our center city Street Children, a party for our great
volunteers then sent out refreshments to parties for 500 more lovely street
urchins. Once again, with presents and everything, we went way over our
budget. Ah well, it only comes once a year.

El
Niño is coming, el niño is coming!!
Torrential
rains and a tropical heat wave are slowly working their way down the west
coast of South America: El Niño - it is about 100 miles north of
Trujillo right now.
For
this reason we have continued to build new roofs and repair old ones at
the 15 properties where we feed abandoned
children and mothers.

This
month everyone pitched in to raise money and collect things for the childrens
parties.
Here
Ana Terre makes chocolates to be sold in our cafe snack bar, Zaguan, and
the nice lady Dra. Maite Pretell who donated all the refreshments for our
oiwn children.
We also want to give special thanks to Draguy Nestorovich, Panaria San
Doval and Intervida. |
