Education: SPECIALISSIMUS
PROGRESS IN NOVEMBER
This month, James deTraz, who joined us from Switzerland in October, presented his plan for teaching our street children in a more effective way than we have managed heretofore.
James has been preparing himself for the past several years for the day when he will open his own school for poor children in Switzerland. He has come to Bruce Peru to put into practice the theories he has been studying and perfecting. In November James began to apply this system to some of the classes we offer to our street children.
This method of education inspired by the Montessori and Steiner systems. When we have gained the child's confidence and obedience we work personally with him or her to encourage positive aptitudes and talents; we will develop specialized mini curricula,( within the overall curriculum), designed to strengthen a particular child's abilities, confidence and self esteem; with the result that the children achieve their highest potential, as they are, within society as it is. In future months we will report on the results of Specialissimus on the street children who are participating in the project.
