Volunteer Experience
(including Medical)
Among all the charities which receive international volunteers: Bruce Org is a rated NGO component.

Who qualifies? In particular: Medical professionals, students, paramedics + assistants. Anyone who is positive, works well with others, has a medical skill to contribute and possesses a natural affection for the people we are trying to help (poor children and abandoned mothers). Age, sex, race, religion and nationality make no difference. It helps if you know at least a few basic words in Spanish [we also provide free Spanish]. Some volunteers bring their professional skills, medical or nursing, Vets, engineers, ecologists, agronomists; but most of us come to teach & help very poor children or to assist their mothers to become financially independent. We seek long term volunteers (months or years). The minimum term is one month unless you have a compelling reason to apply for less. We welcome your questions.......nicole@bruceorg.org
We offer our medical Elective volunteers accommodation during their stay with us. We also provide three meals a day (continental breakfast, full menu lunch & light dinner), five days a week (should your elective include weekend/s, there is no food service, however volunteers have access to our kitchens, and local restaurants are inexpensive).
All volunteers are urged to come with their own travel insurance - If you do not already have one here's a firm.

Cost of
medical Elective Volunteering

There is no cost for applying to a volunteer with us. We are self sustaining, everyone other than nationally licenced teachers, social workers, psychologists and service staff are volunteers and we do not rely on government or institutional support Your entire donation should be paid not less than 60 days before your arrival. Free Spanish lessons are available to our medical Elective volunteers two afternoons per week..
How to Form a medical Elective with classmates from your medical school
If your goal is a university approved elective, then get together at least one other fourth year medical student, one of you serve as the spokes person, choose a date to start, and each of you fill up an APPLICATION FORM ,noting the beginning and ending dates and the spokes person. If all conforms, we will do the rest.

Present and past volunteers at
Bruce Organisation

(Note: in spite of the large number of volunteers who have served in our programs, we remain a small organization).
In fact we are all volunteers; doctors, dentists, economists, lots of social workers, even more university students (medicine, dental, systems, education, psychology, communication, architecture), cooks, lots and lots of teachers, child minders, psychologists, attorneys, engineers, a biologist, nurses, musicians, artists and laborers. The longest time anyone has volunteered so far is two years. The list below includes former and current volunteers.
