This month we harvested our first batch of Tillapias from the fish farm and we distributed them to several of the larger Restaurants Corazon to serve to the Street Childrenof Trujillo. Many of the fish we left behind in the pond so they can grow large enough to sell - and the project will be self sustaining: and there will always be more fish to serve to the children. This has been our first experience in fish farming and so we did everything according to the best information we could find on the internet about raising Tillapias in a controlled aquaculture environment: we fed them algae. We also used a number of willing local consultants with Tillapia experience - but they often gave conflicting advice. So the next batch we intend to raise on both algae and fish food in the hope that they will grow much more rapidly.

Our children completed the first English course
.Sandra returned to England and Menorca, the new teacher arrived to start the second course. Sandra did a wonderful job in inaugurating our English classes for children, adolescents and adults; and she made many friends along the way. When she left there were at least three going-away parties, one by the students, another by the parents and yet another by fellow volunteers. I suspect there were a couple more. We all miss her.

We held our second free cancer clinic for abandoned mothers.
In cooperation with our friends from the War on Cancer we offered examinations to all our mothers.
So far of those who have participated about ten per cent test positive. Uterus cancer in this poor country has become something of an epidemic. It is caused by the men not washing, a virus forms beneath their foreskin and they pass this along to their sexual partners. But in women when it enters the uterus the virus often causes cancer.

Every friday now we hold a sweets festival to help cover the mounting cost of feeding all our hungry Street Children. We keep hoping some angels will appear and help us with this happy burden - maybe next month....
.

This month we hosted two Valentine's parties and our regular bimonthly birthday bash. With lots of entertainments by our staff and presents for all those who had their anniversary recently we gave the kids and mothers much celebration.
